Torchlit processions

Nevill’s celebrations traditionally begin on the Nevill Estate, with torchlit processions through the residential streets before the main procession heads towards the firesite at Landport Bottom.

The home society is joined by visiting Bonfire societies, creating a colourful procession of blazing torches, banners, traditional costumes, tableaux and bands.

Nevill’s members are particularly recognisable in their green and white striped smugglers’ jumpers, while the Society’s pioneer costumes add further colour to the procession.

Bonfire and fireworks

The main procession traditionally makes its way to Landport Bottom, where the evening culminates with the bonfire, destruction of the Society’s effigies and a fireworks display.

Access arrangements and any admission charge for the 2026 firesite have not yet been confirmed, so check the Society’s information nearer the event rather than relying on details from previous years.

Road closures and travel

Road closures and traffic restrictions should be expected around the Nevill Estate and the procession route towards Landport Bottom.

Detailed 2026 road closures, procession routes and parking arrangements have not yet been published, so don’t rely on information from previous years.

Nevill takes place in a largely residential area, so visitors should also park considerately and avoid obstructing roads, driveways or emergency access.
