About Hawkhurst Gang Bonfire Society
Hawkhurst Gang Bonfire Society is based in Hawkhurst, Kent, and takes part in the wider Sussex bonfire circuit from just across the county border.
The society is named after the notorious 18th-century Hawkhurst Gang of smugglers.
Main Events
Hawkhurst traditionally hosts a late-season torchlit procession, bonfire and fireworks at King George V Playing Field on The Moor.
The society has announced a “Glastonbury-style year off” with its next home event planned for 2027, while members continue to appear at other societies’ processions.
Procession & Tradition
Recent home celebrations have typically gathered visiting societies near the Royal Oak before a torchlit procession up Highgate Hill, accompanied by bands and costume competitions.
