Important safety information
- Do not bring fireworks or sparklers. The Society operates a strict no-fireworks policy outside the display area.
- Only members of Lindfield Bonfire Society, invited bonfire societies and invited organisations may join the procession. Spectators must remain on the footpaths.
- Never pick up a dropped torch.
- Leave pets at home because of the flames, loud bangs and crowds.
- Drones are not permitted.
- Obey all road closures and follow instructions from event officials.
- Do not cross the safety fence around the firesite, even after the display has finished.
Road closures
Road closures will operate from 18:30 to 21:30. The High Street and Black Hill will be closed throughout the evening. Closures also affect the High Street from Black Hill to Hickmans Lane, Lewes Road to the High Street, and Hickmans Lane. While Hickmans Lane is closed, vehicles cannot enter from Denmans Lane, Brookway, Finches Park Road, The Welkin, Compton Road or Sunte Avenue.
Traffic travelling south from Ardingly should avoid Lindfield via College Road. Traffic travelling north from Haywards Heath towards Ardingly should use Summerhill Lane.
Parking
Parking in the village is extremely limited and vehicle access will be restricted. If you live locally, please walk. The Society strongly advises visitors not to arrive by car; anyone who must drive should park on the outskirts of Lindfield and walk in. Do not park on the procession route, within the road closures or immediately beside Lindfield Common. Keep residents' access and emergency routes clear.
First aid and lost people
The event medic post will be in the Bowls Club car park at the top of the Common, with mobile patrols operating during the evening. The lost children and vulnerable people station will be at the United Reformed Church on the High Street.
Donations
The event costs approximately £18,000 to stage and is funded by the Society's year-round fundraising. Collection buckets will circulate on the night, and programmes are available for a minimum £2 donation. Money from the street collection supports local children's charities.
