Hailsham Bonfire Night takes place on Saturday 17 October 2026.

Hailsham Bonfire Society has confirmed that its torchlit procession will pass through the High Street, followed by a fireworks finale at Western Road Recreation Ground.

The Society’s official 2026 event programme has now been printed and is due to go on sale around Hailsham. Full procession routes and timings are also due to be published on the Society’s website and Facebook page.

Torchlit procession

Hailsham Bonfire Society leads the procession through the town, joined by visiting bonfire societies from across Sussex.

Expect the streets to fill with blazing torches, traditional Bonfire costumes, banners and marching bands as the procession makes its way through Hailsham.

Recent celebrations have attracted large crowds and an impressive contingent of visiting societies — the 2025 event welcomed 17 visiting societies and four bands.

Fireworks

The evening culminates with a fireworks finale at Western Road Recreation Ground.

Hailsham Bonfire Society describes the display as the finale to its annual celebration, with the procession making its way through the town before attention turns to the recreation ground.

Supporting local charities

Hailsham Bonfire Society uses its annual celebration to raise money for good causes as well as keeping the Sussex Bonfire tradition alive.

The Society’s chosen charities for 2026 are Out of the Blue and the Parkinson’s Hailsham Branch.

Look out for the charity street collections during the evening and give generously if you can. The Society says it has raised more than £15,000 for its selected charities over the past 20 years.

Road closures and travel

Road closures and traffic restrictions should be expected through Hailsham town centre during the procession.

The Society has not yet published its full 2026 procession route and timings online, so check the latest information before travelling rather than relying on road closure or route details from previous years.

With thousands of spectators attending in recent years, allow plenty of time to arrive and expect the busiest areas of the town centre to be crowded.
